A convenient synthetic approach towards alkyloxy substituted (24-crown-8)-linked dimeric phthalocyanines via Mg-templated statistical condensation of phthalonitriles is developed. The binding properties of the obtained receptors are preliminarily investigated by AM1 semi-empirical method.
