This biographic review describes the scientific carrier, main research interests and achievements of Boris Dmitrievich Berezin – Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciencies, Doctor of Chemical Sciencies, currently the Head researcher at the Institute of Solution Chemistry of Russian Academy of Sciences (ISC RAS) and the founder of Ivanovo Scientific School on Coordination Chemistry of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines. His activities in teaching and organization of research work as well his contribution to the development of the Departments of Analytical and Organic Chemistry at Ivanovo State University of Chemistry and Technology and in the establishment and growth of Institute of Solution Chemistry of RAS and Higher Chemical College of RAS are reviewed.
