The condensation of biladiene-a,c dihydrobromides with benzaldehyde gives 5-phenylporphyrins. The reaction conditions
have been studied and optimized; it is shown that synthesis of biladiene-a,c dihydrobromides can be combined with
their following condensation with benzaldehyde.
